Corsta V
This magnificent Superyacht, the largest sailing yacht built in the southern hemisphere at her launch in 1994, is still one of the largest cutter rigged boats. Built to Lloyds hull certification, in aluminium by Sterling Yachts in Cape Town, she has superb interior decor designed by Susan Puleo, in African Rosewood, semi precious stone inlays, marble bathrooms and gold plated everything. She is exceptionally shallow draft for her size, with a wingleted keel and twin rudders that enable good upwind performance with her centerboard up. She handles superbly under power & sail. Under power her twin engines give her 12 knots and excellent manouverabilty without having to rely on her retractable bow thruster, except when docking. She with equal facility does 14 knots under sail. The boat is contolled electro- hydraulically with roller furling heads'ls and an "in boom" mains'l furling system, and captive reel winches.
